Endoscopy service celebrates JAG accreditation

Staff on the endoscopy unit celebrate their accreditation success

Endoscopy staff at Scunthorpe hospital have been recognised for delivering high quality services.

The unit has been awarded JAG (Joint Advisory Group) accreditation following an assessment of four domains: clinical quality, patient experience, workforce, and training.

The scheme awards units which demonstrate high quality and safe services run by highly trained and motivated staff.

Assessors congratulated staff on their strong leadership culture, their introduction of a morning huddle to enhance communication between the team, and their well-established professional approach, which provides a quality experience for patients.

The purpose built unit, which opened in August 2017, provides a range of diagnostic and therapeutic services including colonoscopies, gastroscopies, cystoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy. Around 1,800 procedures carried out every month.

Tracey Broom, divisional general manger for clinical support services, said: “Achieving this has been the result of many months of hard work and I want to thank all staff involved. Ensuring our patients receive a high quality service is our number one priority and this accreditation gives people assurance that that’s what they’ll get when they walk through our doors.”
